Botswana Adventure with Elephants

11 Night / 12 Day Itinerary

Day One

Arrive at Johannesburg International Airport / Protea Balalaika Hotel
On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport, you will be met as you clear customs and transferred to the Protea Hotel Balalaika in Sandton (4 star). This evening enjoy dinner in the restaurant or at one of the many restaurants in the area.

Day Two

Johannesburg / Maun Airport / Stanley’s Camp
This morning after an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the Johannesburg International Airport to check in for your flight to Botswana.  This will be followed by a private air-transfer with ‘’Safari Air’’ to the amazing Stanley’s Camp.

This luxury camp is situated in a 260 000 acre private concession, thus affording you absolute exclusivity.  You are accommodated in classically styled safari tents, which exude classic Africa – handcrafted beds dressed with the finest linen, antique furniture individually selected, and oriental carpets that give a delightful glimpse of colonial Africa.  The main building is raised on decking and offers extensive views over the surrounding floodplains.  The structure has been built into the existing tree line, its main support being a large sausage tree.

Enjoy lunch and this afternoon a game drive into the reserve.

Dinner and overnight.

Day Three

Stanley’s Camp
One of the wonderful features of Stanley’s Camp is an educational experience with a herd of semi-habituated African elephants.

Elephant Adventure – This activity encompasses a leisurely-paced walk with a trio of semi – habituated elephants, becoming personally acquainted with them, observing and interacting with them.  This activity is +- 4 hours in the morning culminating with picnic lunch in the bush.

As part of a unique learning adventure, you will accompany the herd on daily foraging treks.  Immersed in elephant life, warm bonds of kinship grow from a newly found appreciation of these gentle giants.  This rare experience is one you will long cherish and certainly never forget!

Other activities include serene water safaris in mokoros (traditional dugout canoes) and game drives in customized, open 4 x 4 vehicles including the opportunity of a night game drive.

Due to the fact that Stanley’s Camp is in a private concession, you can also experience a walking safari with an armed professional guide.

Overnight Stanley’s Camp.

Day Four

Stanley’s Camp / Kasane Airport / Chobe Savanna Lodge
After breakfast, you will fly from Stanley’s Camp to Kasane Airport.  This flight will offer you some stunning views from the air over the Okavango Delta.

You will be met at Kasane Airport and transferred 7 km to Kasane Jetty.  At the Kasane Jetty, you will be transferred via boat to Chobe Savanna Lodge.

Arrive Chobe Savanna Lodge relax after you flight and enjoy the beautiful environment.

If time allows this afternoon you will be taken on a boat cruise on the Chobe River with some outstanding game viewing.  Overnight with dinner.

Day Five

Chobe Savanna Lodge
This morning you will have a choice of various activities, which a staff member from Chobe Savanna Lodge will explain to you – these will vary from visiting a traditional cultural village, tiger fishing on the Chobe River or a Chobe River cruise.

Day Six

Chobe Savanna Lodge / Kasane Airport / Camp Okavango
This morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to the Kasane Jetty by boat, road transfer to Kasane Airport and then the flight to Camp Okavango.

This beautiful lodge is set in the Okavango Delta.  During winter months – May to November, an abundant array of wildlife is drawn to this oasis, in search of water and food with its prime location between water and open plains, this lodge provides excellent big game viewing during this ‘’thirsty season’’.

Discuss with the lodge this afternoon for a late afternoon game drive or night drive this evening.

Day Seven

Camp Okavango
The Okavango, the largest inland delta in the world, is the most unexpected of wonders: water in the desert, spreading like an outstretched hand over the thirst lands of the Kalahari, its green papyrus-fringed banks and fertile floating islands nothing short of miraculous in the heart of the desert.

Discuss with your ranger after breakfast the various activities that you can do today.

Day Eight

Camp Okavango / Boat transfer to Camp Moremi
This morning after breakfast, you will be transferred by boat to Camp Moremi.  Situated on the beautiful Xakana Lagoon in the eastern extremity of the Okavango Delta, within the Moremi Game Reserve.

Camp Moremi offer intimate exclusivity in walk-through East African style safari tents with en-suite hot showers and waterborne toilets.  Each tent is exquisitely furnished – your African hideaway.

An afternoon safari followed by sundowner drinks.

Day Nine & Ten

Camp Moremi
Moremi Game Reserve supports the most diverse habitat and animal populations in Botswana, with possible sightings of wild dog, cheetah and leopard being highlights.  Resident species include lion, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, sable, roan antelope to name but a few.  You can thrill to the excitement of tracking these on open landrover game drives conducted by experienced resident naturalists.  Bird watching is excellent throughout the year with powerboat visits to the heronries on Gadikwe and Xakanaxa Lagoons.

Day Eleven

Camp Moremi / Maun Airport / Johannesburg
Enjoy a game activity before breakfast.  Spend the morning enjoying the last few hours in this amazing environment before being transferred by charter plane to Maun Airport in time to connect with the scheduled flight to Johannesburg.

On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport, you will be transferred to the Balalaika Protea where you will spend your last night.

Day Twelve

Balalaika Hotel / Johannesburg International Airport
Spend the day relaxing at the Balalaika Hotel before being met and transferred to the Johannesburg International Airport for your flight home.
