Ibo Island Lodge and Vamizi IslandMozambique Honeymoon7 nights / 8 days ItineraryYou will be met at Pemba and transferred in a light aircraft from Pemba to Ibo Island. 2 Nights - Ibo IslandLodgeVirtually unknown to the outside world and undisturbed for centuries there is a place where time has stood still. This is Ibo Island, or as the locals call it: Ilha do Ibo. Nestled in the awesome Quirimbas Archipelago of northern Mozambique, and nominated for World Heritage status, Ibo is an island that is beautiful, remote and untouched by commercial developments and one of the most intriguing, idyllic and romantic islands you could dream of visiting. For the last 500 years Ibo Island was a prosperous trading post along the stunning coast of East Africa. Three forts, a beautiful old catholic church and numerous ancient trading buildings stand guard over the sea. Pirates, ivory and intrigue and the never to be forgotten slave trade, featured on this little palm-fringed coral island. Boundless secrets, history and culture are still contained amongst the marvelous ruins which date back to the early 1500s. Ibo Island also boasts much more than just historical importance. Easily one of the most un-spoilt destinations on the planet, Ibo also falls within the newly created Quirimbas National Park. Beyond the warm turquoise waters inhabited by turtles and tropical fish, the ocean around Ibo is also home to dolphins, whales and the shy and mysterious dugong. Ibo Island Lodge is located on the prime waterfront site, overlooking the sunset and views and where romantic dhows sail out to sea on each high tide. Ibo Island is a potential World Heritage Site and therefore the rooms have been designed to incorporate the original architecture and style of the old buildings. The lodge has spectacular views over the bay and into the National Park beyond and accommodates guests in beautifully simple, yet elegant rooms with indigenous solid teak and mahogany furniture handcrafted by the people of Ibo. All rooms have en-suite facilities with twin basins and large marble showers. Some have baths and outside showers. You will be transferred by air from Ibo Island to Vamizi Island. 5 Nights - Vamizi IslandVamizi Island Lodge is an exquisite 5 star destination, where a small handful of guests can step out of beautifully appointed beach villas into a world of powder sands, virginal reefs and secret coves. Vamizi Island lies off the coast of northern Mozambique in the Quirimbas Archipelago. It remains one of the last pristine marine wilderness areas left in the Indian Ocean. After so many years, hidden from the outside world, Vamizi is now very quietly opening its doors to be explored for the first time, through the most careful balance of conservation and discreet tourism. Vamizi has ten luxurious beach houses, two of which have been designed with double suites to provide exclusive seclusion for families or friends. In the large bedrooms, a king-size 4 poster bed with billowing muslin mosquito nets and Egyptian cotton sheets welcomes one; whilst an assortment of sun loungers, planters chairs, peponi beds and Swahili swing beds make relaxing outside a pleasure. Stretched along the beach the main dining room, bar and sitting room have all been created with open sitting areas and secluded corners. A sunset bar is located close to the water’s edge. The ocean holds the key to Vamizi’s main larder; the cuisine will reflect this by using the freshest local ingredients with Mediterranean and Indian Ocean flavors. The wine list is in part sourced from a French vineyard belonging to one of Vamizi’s owners. For the more active, Vamizi offers snorkelling, diving, big game fishing, salt-water fly-fishing, mountain bike trails, birdwalks, dhow cruises and private picnics. Vamizi epitomizes uncompromising quality with understated elegance it is barefoot luxury at its best Quote Includes
